OOC DISCUSSION

This is an attempt to centralize TLH memes and, perhaps, even smut memes in general. So far, it's only a shaky experiment, but I would like to get feedback for future endeavors and how to proceed from this point.

Update: TLH mod and I are in contact. Hopefully, we will figure something out! I'm going to try and get in touch with the bakerstreet mod, as well. Also, I've just talked to some meme socks and they've told me they'll be willing to make exclusive content just for this meme. Lots of fun stuff in store.

i can't browse bakerstreet at all when someone might swing by during the day because of either INCEST FROTTAGE WHATEVER or gifs. either i have the chance of someone looking over my shoulder or it's something that makes me uncomfortable and just because you put TW: PEOPLE FUCKING or whatever doesn't make it less uncomfortable.

You do realize that RP isn't all about YOUR convenience, right? So just because one person has company and therefore can't browse the site for several hours for fear some visitor might see then others should suffer for it? This isn't going to solve ALL smut memes on bakerstreet. There is no rule claiming smut memes aren't allowed, thus, people unaffiliated with TLH will continue to post them.

I think this is a great idea. I'd prefer if all smut memes were in one place. It makes them easier to find while at the same time allowing bakerstreet some breathing room.

The memes are starting to really clog up TLH too, honestly. Smut memes are fun, but maybe a community for them specifically would be good. These are popular memes, so if people enjoy them they can go looking.

Just pop a link in on Bakerstreet with a SFW picture but clear NSFW tag / intentions with the link to the new comm so people can go looking if they want it and keep scrolling if they don't.

Though linking to TLH is nice too, because yeah, fresh meat is always nice.

I'd rather see memes shifted back to TLH's OOC comm. Yet another meme comm sounds like a pain to follow.

no real horse in this race, but doubt it will work: 'gen' sums up a lot of different genres, whereas shipping/smut are essentially a (very popular) niche. most people who play in smut memes will also want to take a look at gen memes (which are usually open to shipping/smut options anyway) as well, and bakerstreet is a currently reliable and convenient way to get both gen and smut via the same community. so they'll keep only checking bakerstreet, and you'll end up having to link your individual memes to bakerstreet in order to get replies to them, which will not exactly solve the issue you are trying to address.

one thing i guess you might try - but would mean a bit of work on the mods' part - would be to post smut memes here and then to make a daily text/link-only compilation post that would get posted in the evening, in the vein of the sunday meme round-up. that would, in theory, both get your memes some traffic, advertise them to interested parties, and "spare" the virginal eyes of some bakerstreet goers.

speaking as someone who only plays gen, i don't really think there's a need for two communities, but that's just me and my 'scroll away' policy.

it's great that you want to try something new, but this won't work unless either bakerstreet or tlh banned smut memes altogether. people don't want to go to yet another place to look for memes and won't as long as it's convenient not to. people already despise tlh's mod for being a lazy shit who does nothing but show up to police how often memes are posted, and i don't even know if bakerstreet has a mod, so don't expect much of anything to happen.

Personally, as long as the pictures are behind cuts so I can still browse at work without having to freak that someone is looking over my shoulder while I scroll, it doesn't really matter to me. I play them once in a while, but the main annoyance I have with them is the NSFW pictures all over the place.

A round up of all TLH memes for the week isn't a bad idea, keeps them from flooding bakerstreet while still getting bumped to baker and thus helping that new blood is brought into TLH.

Smut memes in general, how about a rule of not leaving tags blank to limit the flood? Gotta put in something, when possible a starter post, but at the very least a kink list or notice of how active you are to avoid people just character dumping.

I'm all for going back to the days when we had to write our own starters in TLH memes. But I work really hard to keep my anonymity when I'm tagging to smut memes. Identical kink lists or "I'm only around on Tuesdays and Thursdays" notices would out me as the same player for all my characters.

Like someone above said, if this was coordinated with the bakerstreet mods to link the NSFW memes here, I'd be all for it, the thing with bakerstreet is there are at least three people that post NSFW memes purposely to irritate those that don't like it.

Me? I just scroll or don't post if I don't want it, though there are times I'm bored and there's just smut memes. Mind, a good dose of smut is a-okay, but sometimes those just don't fit or we just did that meme three days/a week ago is irritating.

You're right, but saying that "there's nothing to cure" doesn't help. There have been many, many discussions on the topic in bakerstreet already, so I feel it's disingenuous to say that everything is fine.

Personally I feel a good solution would be limiting the number of memes posted per day, but that won't happen if the mod of bakerstreet doesn't show up to enforce it.

there have been, at my count, four prior attempts at making a new, smut-only meme comm. all of them petered out and failed right out of the gate. seems like a pattern to me!

until/unless the bakerstreet mod cracks down on everything, nothing is going to change, because people don't feel the need to visit multiple meme communities.

I'd like it if bakerstreet wasn't the ONE AND ONLY MEME COMM FOR EVERYTHING EVER too, but I'm not sure that just changing what we're trying to move off of bakerstreet is going to work. I just wish I knew what kind of change of strategy might successfully cause a divide.
